Question Gunther and his friends - woe is Luxon

I would've added a poll, but I can't find an option for it.

I've have many arguments with my teammates lately about a certain aspect of Ft Aspenwood. Namely, the end where you attack Gunther and his gatekeepers. Many times it happens that the Kurzick team has a monk or several (or a ritualist) bonding gates before Green gate is down and when the attack moves to Green chamber, bonding and healing Gunther.

Now, the quarrel is this: many of my teammates blindly spam ATTACK GUNTHER!! even if there are monks, believing they can easily outdamage the healers. I, on the other hand, usually believe that a few people should harass the monks so they can't keep both Gunther and themselves alive, giving the rest of the team a chance to take out Gunther.

Lately so many people tend to ignore me when I say this that I usually just try to give the monks a hard time myself, more often than not leading to victory whereas if we just spam attacks on Gunther it becomes harder. But what do you guys say, am I right or wrong?

And sometimes there are a LOT of monks on Kz side.. (I believe there was a fourth one too and a healing rit as well.)

(I'm not l33t enough to hide my skillbar.)

I like bonding in FA, It's fun because the luxons like you say, Tend not to think things through.

The only hard time I have had is when a luxon ranger brought natures renewal. Seriously 1 person attacking a bonder in FA increases your chance of wining by about oh I dunno 1000%.

Wish I was fighting in your battles because I'm usualy the only monk and I only monk because other wise everyone leaves ¬.¬

Id say most of the team attack gunther and one guy pressure the monk. In the case of yr screen shot, i dont know, i would expect to win.

You're right. Congrats. You are probably in the upper 10% of players who play Fort Aspenwood because 30% of the population are leechers and 60% of them are just plain stupid. Nothing really worth mentioning though, because it's not that surprising there are retarded people playing these areas.

Speaking as someone who used to play a bonder monk in Aspenwood (quit playing that map, though I really think it's fun, due to the leechers. Hi Anet!), you're right. It's much harder for me to keep both myself AND Gunther alive, so you should definitely be attacking the bonder as well.

And Luxon rangers should bring Nature's Renewal regardless of their build because boy would that thing piss me off :P (note that no matter how hard the bonder is shouting in team for his/her idiot teammates to kill off NR, they will just cheerfully ignore him/her and go off killing random Luxons, and then complain back in the outpost about the monk(s) sucking).

(P.S. I was once on a 7-monk, one warrior Luxon Aspenwood team. It's not just the Kurzicks who occasionally get a whole bunch of monks )

If they have Gunther bonded and the Luxons have no strips that can take off more than one enchant, like a Well of profane its is absoulte need to kill the monks on the Kurzick side. I personlly have bonded for the Kurzicks once and while, and if I have him bonded there's in no way they can out dmg a healer, because most often the bonder have prot spirit and shield of aborption and some sort of direct heal, because very little dmg is being done to him since SoAis being tiggerd over and over and over again, you can't kill him if the monk is just free to heal one thing and do nothing else. And if theres more than one monk its near impossible to kill him.

I usally monk on the Luxon side and I'm glad there's someone who has their wits about them and enough common sense to train down the monks before attacking gunther. I'm with you if we're in there and no ones attackign the monk I too yell over Team chat to attack the monk and I'd say 70-80% of the time they listen.

So the key is if the Kurzicks have monks KILL THEM or else you wont win.

On a side note, it took aliitle while but we were able to pressure out 3 monks(without strips) who were soley healing/proting/bonding Gunther this weekend, so it can be done.
